Did I post yesterday?

I completely forgot to post my beautiful findings yesterday. I definitely have the "pregnancy brain" thing going on. Either that or I just have put too much on my plate. Picking up my camera every day to take a themed picture for this online class is a challenge for me. I have to try to find time in between nesting, playing, cleaning, eating, potty-training, napping, and TLC!

I started a new Bible Study also, which has been a blessing. Studying Daniel is more in-depth than I thought it would be. I am so interested in history, prophesy fulfilled, and eschatology. Daniel has me hooked! I've met a few new sweet ladies at my church through this study, which is also a blessing.

Anyway, on to the post that I forgot yesterday. "In the Garden" is the theme. Since I don't really have a garden, per se...I took some pics around the house. One is of some weeds that I need to pull or rather have Beau pull. The other is of a beautiful but very bare tree in my backyard. Thank for checking in. Blessings to you, Karrie

In the Garden

Hello All! This week's theme is called "In the Garden". Since it is the dead of winter around here and no sign of color, I put up my Valentine garden flag. You can see my garden statue's shadow against the brick wall. I thought that was a nice and unexpected tough. The sun was shining bright today so I was able to take this photo without bundling up in my fleece jacket. Yay! We'll see what else I can come up with this week "In the Garden". Thanks for stopping by.

Sunrise!

I got a great shot of the sunrise this morning from my backyard. I had just strapped Julian in his carseat on my way to work and had to take this shot. The sun burst was successful this time. Glory to God. There is just something about nature that makes you feel surrounded by God. The Universe was created by an artistic and loving God. I love Him! Even though He is invisible to me He finds ways to show Himself in my everday life. One more day of the "sun" theme...

Have a good weekend.

Sun Burst!

Well, I have to admit that I was a little intimidated when I saw the theme for this week was "Sun". I groaned. I love seeing photographs of scenes with sun bursts in them and marvel at the photographers who can even pull them off in portraits. This is one of my goals: to work on portraits with incorporated sun bursts. The image above is my first attempt at this tricky photo ability. Hope to hear some good feedback on it, but we'll see. Two more days of "Sun". Can't wait to see what's next on the agenda. Until then...

Two for Tuesday!

Well, I failed to post my project photographs last week. I apologize. This week's project theme is "sun". I have to admit that I am a little intimidated by this. The photographs that have that beautiful light quality from the sun's rays are ones I covet. I am going to give it the " 'ole college try" as they say.

Today's post has two sun inspired photographs because I didn't post one for yesterday. So, the first is a picture I took yesterday of my cat, Francis. She was sun bathing in our front window. She is pretty kitty :) The second is a boring picture of what my living room looks like from my desk. The random toys and sippy cups on the floor and in front of the fireplace are just part of a normal day when Julian & I are home. It was taken when the sun shines the brightest through my front windows.

Thanks for checking in with Karrie Drake Photography.

The Baker Family

I had a great time with the Baker family on Sunday afternoon. The Bakers left their Christmas tree up for this photo occasion...and what a beautiful tree it was :) This family is very gifted and talented. Mama is from Brazil and talks to her girls in Portuguese. It is the neatest thing to me. I wish I knew a foreign language fluently. What a special gift to give to your children. Daddy is a musician and band director at FPD. I caught a couple shots of Isabella and Daddy playing together. Sweet moments. The Bakers also have a new addition to their family. Her name is Sophia. Sophia is one month old, so we had to take some newborn shots as well. She was such a good little model for me. I hope y'all enjoy the preview. I will have the rest up for you to view this afternoon. I sure enjoyed my time spent in your beautiful home.
Blessings to you, Karrie

Amber, a beautiful mommy!

What a fun session today with Amber! She is a sweet friend of mine who is having her second son in March. Coleman, the big brother, is so excited about mama's "baby belly". He was anxious to show the camera. =) I enjoyed this session with Amber so much; we joked, we laughed, we lunched. It was great! Mike & Amber, thank you for inviting me into your home to be part of this special moment. I hope you like the preview.

The Last of Red Week...

Well, today is the last of Red week for my 365 Project. I thought it was fitting to end with another of Julian's favorites, Lightning McQueen. It is so precious when he says this little red car's name; it sounds like he's saying, "Joaquin". It makes me giggle!

Tomorrow begins a new topic: Resolutions. This will make me think a bit because I really don't like to make New Year's resolutions. Anyway, stay tuned to see what I come up with. Also, I have some photography shoots coming up, a newborn and maternity. Good things to come in 2010! Blessings, Karrie

It's a bird. It's a plane. It's....

SUPERMAN! Superman is definitely a favorite in our house. Since I can't get my little man to pose for me in his "super suit"; I had to get a stand in. Superman has that red cape that is unmistakable. This photo was taken with some window light and flash at an aerial view. Happy New Year! Blessings, Karrie
